Papi Swim arrived at Miami Swim Week with something different to show.

Known for its bold prints and energetic runway presentations, the brand took a new direction for 2026, introducing handmade-inspired resort wear with an emphasis on texture, coordinated styling, and personal expression.

The collection made its appearance at M2 Miami during Miami Swim Week Powered by Art Hearts Fashion, bringing the creative vision of designers Robert and Melanie Gonzalez to the runway.

A DIFFERENT SIDE OF PAPI SWIM

For a brand recognized for its vibrant personality, this season offered an opportunity to explore another side of its identity.

Ahead of the show, Robert Gonzalez spoke publicly about moving beyond the brand's signature colorful prints and introducing a handmade resort wear collection. That direction was visible on the runway. Soft blue crochet-inspired pieces, coordinating swimwear, and open-knit separates brought a more relaxed approach to the collection without losing the confidence associated with the brand. One memorable pairing featured a female model in a textured bikini alongside a male model wearing complementary shorts and an open-knit shirt.

The looks worked together without competing for attention.

What stood out was the styling. The texture of the garments, the coordination between looks, and the way the pieces moved down the runway gave the collection its character. Rather than relying entirely on bright prints, Papi Swim allowed construction and styling to become part of the visual conversation. The collection also reflected an approach to resort wear that extends beyond the beach, with lightweight separates that can become part of an everyday vacation wardrobe.

Robert and Melanie Gonzalez brought a different approach to the runway while keeping the personality that makes Papi Swim recognizable. The collection offered a reminder that fashion does not have to abandon its identity to evolve.

Sometimes the strongest statement comes from showing the audience a fashion forward collection they haven't seen from you before.
