In 2020, Dana's journey took a profound turn as she embraced her faith with renewed vigor. Baptized and transformed, she transitioned from a proud plus-size model to a beacon of Christian empowerment. Her modeling career became a ministry—a platform to spread the message of faith, empowerment, and self-confidence. Guided by her belief in God's presence in every aspect of life, Dana embarked on a mission to inspire others, regardless of industry standards or societal norms.
"My dreams came true in 2016 when l became an overnight international model as The Face of the Passionista Apparel brand by winning an international modeling contest. I was flown to the U.S. Virgin Islands for the first time ever to meet with the body positive company and participated in a 4 Day photoshoot of a lifetime for their website and campaign. Afterwards, Modeling started to become the new norm. So, I started using my platform to spread a body positive message and inspired other women to follow their dreams and be confident in themselves regardless of industry standards. That message slightly changed once I got baptized back in the year 2020. I realized my purpose was to spread the good news of God's Kingdom." -Dana B.

Here's a glimpse into our enlightening conversation with Dana B.
How do you balance your personal beliefs with the demands and expectations of the modeling industry?
One way I balance my beliefs with the demand of the industry is choosing ethical brands to work with. Everything I do is intentional. When I decided to sign to a modeling agency, I made sure that my agent understood who I was spiritually and knew my expectations when it comes to finding me modeling work. There are certain modeling jobs that I will absolutely not do such as modeling nude. It's important for me to do research on the companies who I choose to collaborate with which ensures that we both align morally.
What advice would you give to other individuals who aspire to pursue a career in modeling while prioritizing their faith?
Always put God first by staying true to his values. It's important to have a clear understanding of your faith. Keep in mind Proverbs 3: 5-6! Trust in the Lord with all your heart and don’t rely on your own understanding. We have to make sure that we are aware of any potential conflicts between our faith and the modeling industry. Establishing boundaries regarding the type of modeling jobs we are comfortable with is essential in order to prioritizing our faith. For example, I had booked a commercial and the director wanted to add a kissing scene. But because I was married, I didn't feel comfortable with my lips touching another man's lips. So, I allowed the actor to kiss my forehead instead. It's okay to say no to certain opportunities that conflict with your values. Don't ever compromise for the sake of your career. Our Heavenly Father will always bless us tremendously for putting him first.
Are there specific practices that you incorporate into your daily life to maintain a strong connection with your faith?
Yes, actually this past year (2023) was faith strengthening for my spiritual needs. First off, I decided to dedicate myself to auxiliary pioneering. To help me fulfill this goal, I bought workbooks that helped my spiritual routine. Keeping track of my daily prayers, journaling notes and scriptures from my daily bible readings, & meditating on GOD’s word helps me keep a strong connection with my faith. Plus, I faithfully attended weekly spiritual meetings in association with my spiritual brothers & sisters at the Kingdom Hall. Surrounding myself with a supportive community of like-minded spiritual people gives me the guidance and support I need. I also notice that when I set smaller spiritual goals it helps me with burnout. Matthew 5:3 said it best! Happy are those conscious of their spiritual needs.
Looking ahead, how do you envision your role as a Christian model influencing the industry and those who follow your journey?
I hope to bring love, light, and positive change to the modeling and fashion industry and those who follow my journey. I can envision the growth of more Christian models in the industry. That's why I outspokenly use my platform for causes that align with my Christian beliefs. Whether it's promoting living out Christian values, diversity & inclusion, or promoting modesty and self-respect. I believe in the inherent worth and dignity of every individual. Hopefully one day, my spreading of this godly message through my modeling career will reach the masses. (Millions of people)
What legacy do you hope to leave in the modeling world based on your commitment to faith and values?
I want to be remembered as that faithful & fearful woman used by GOD who helped individuals ultimately come to an accurate knowledge of JEHOVAH through the art of modeling. I truly feel honored to be a small part of making the biblical prophecy found in Ezekiel 25:17 come true which partial states, "And they shall know that I am the LORD." That's why you'll see me constantly displaying God's name in all my social media posts when landing modeling gigs. My goal is to reach and teach all the nations hoping they will believe and/or even strengthen their faith leading to baptism.
